The USA Shaolin Temple teaches Chan Philosophy, continuing the tradition as founded by Bodhidharma (Putidamo) in the year 527. The essence of Chan emphasizes the idea of personal awakening and understanding through the core Shaolin disciplines of martial arts or action meditation. In 2004, Shifu Shi Yan Ming was invited to Mexico and opened the first branch of the USA Shaolin Temple in Latin America. Since then, Shaolin Temple Mexico has been carrying the torch that lights the path for Shaolin in Latin America.
